Ready for church

Grandma & Grandpa Ambler come to visit!

Mom and Dad had the opportunity to come visit last month.  It was a short visit, just a few days, but it was great having them here!  I miss spending time with my family so it was a special treat for us.  While they were here Karissa had her first experience going to prompt care for an ear infection.  Of course it happened while Ben was at a camp out but Tyson got to spend some one on one time with grandpa while Grandma and I took Karissa to the doctor.
My mom and I had the opportunity to attend a health conference down town while she was here as well.  We had a great time and learned a lot!
Karissa was always shy when grandma and grandpa would first arrive each morning, but within about 10 minutes or so she was giving hugs and cuddling with one of them.
It was fun to see how much the kids love their grandparents!  Just wish they lived closer so we could see them more!!!!

Underwear

Karissa has been very interested in the potty and asks several times a day to sit on it, so I thought I would break out the underwear and get it washed and ready for official potty training.  I opened the package and had them in the laundry waiting to be washed when she saw them and had to have them.  I let her play with one pair which she immediately put on.  Of course she put them on over her clothes, backwards and inside out, but she put them on herself.  It was a challenge getting her dressed that morning since she did not want her underwear off, but I convinced her that she could put them back on after her close were on.  She ran around with those panties on all morning until it was time to put them in the wash.  The only way she would give them up was if she put them in the washer herself.

City Easter Egg Hunt 2011

Every year the city does an Easter Egg hunt.  We avoided it over the past few years but I thought we would brave the masses and take the kids this time.  They had areas blocked out with caution tape for the different age groups.  Since it was just me with the kids and so much chaos, I kept the kids together so I could keep an eye on them both.  Once the whistle blew it was a free-for-all.  Tyson was off and running, but Karissa did not like the commotion.  She cried the entire time while I was trying to get her to pick up some of the candy and eggs that were scattered about.  Tyson made out pretty well, but after a total of about 5-10minutes, both the kids were done and ready to go home.  If we do this again next year I will be sure to have one adult per child.  It was so hard to keep track of Tyson among the hundreds of kids.

Getting dressed by herself!!!

After all this, all I had to do was pull up the waist and they were right side out.  She was so proud that she did it by herself.

Karissa loves babies!

We had the opportunity to finally meet cousin Thomas last month, and what a cute little guy he is!  Karissa just loved giving him kisses and touching his head and little hands.  One day in particular Karissa insisted on holding Thomas.  She got really upset when we told her, "no" but when Auntie Emy said it was okay, all was right with the world; she got so excited!  Ben helped her gently hold him.  She was so happy to have Thomas right there in her lap!  It was so cute to see how much she loved to hold him.
